2008 Late Harvest Valdiguié Paso Robles

Situated halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Paso Robles Appellation is conducive to growing warm-loving grape varieties. In particular, French Camp Vineyards offer a hot and dry climate, well drained sandy soils, and the cold nights expected at an altitude of 2,000 feet in Paso’s eastern mountain range. The extreme diurnal temperature variation, a major factor of the Paso Robles region in general, is exaggerated by the property’s high elevation and 25-mile separation from the coast. Valdiguié is well served by the growing conditions of French Camp Vineyards. The arid climate buffers vines from rot and mildew while the high elevation accentuates the effects of the regional dryness and intensifies the fruitiness of the grapes.

Tasting Notes

This slightly sweet wine has delicate whiffs of rose petal, strawberry and mandarin orange with flavors of plum, cranberry and cantaloupe. Medium weight with a plush mouthfeel and balanced acidity, it finishes with cherry pie and tangerine zest.
